Choosing a meter can be a simple task, once you decide what you need. Since no one meter can "do it all" the first and most important question you must answer for yourself is... "What am I going to measure?" In a way, you need to know what you are looking for before you can know what type of meter you will use. The best meter for the job will be sensitive to the type of EMF radiation you wish to measure and give you the type of information which is useful to you. Listed below are some additional questions which will help you refine your decision: Do I want to measure magnetic fields? Electric fields? Radiofrequency fields? What frequencies am I most interested in: DC? 60 Hz? ELF? VLF? Microwave? How sensitive do I need my meter to be? How accurate do I need it to be? (higher accuracy = higher price) Do I prefer analog (best for surveys and readings "on the go") or digital (higher accuracy)? Do I need three axis, or can I get by with single axis? What special features do I want: audible signal? Multiple capability? Portability? Cost? What am I going to do with the information? Locate "hot spots"? Trace faulty circuits? Present findings to others? The following chart will help you compare the various meter options. Of course, if you still can't decide, call or e-mail our technical staff and we will be happy to assist you url: www.lessemf.com/guide.html

Know Your EMF Meters Published on Nov 30, 2012
How well do you know the equipment you use for paranormal investigations? Here is a closer look at some of the more popular EMF meters and related devices being used in the field, as well as a demonstration of some things that can give you false readings. Thanks to Randy Carver of Carver Paranormal for the inspiration for this video. *Correction* The Radio Frequency Range of the TriField Meter is 50 MHz (not 50Hz) to 3 GHz.* Copyright 2012 Colorado Para-Tech. ELF Zone AC Magnetic Field Meter $12.95K-II EMF meter. $60-$100ELF and VLF range (50 to 20,000Hz). Single Axis. 9V battery (included).
This genuine K-II can Measure the EMF (Electro-magnetic Field) radiation strength of electrical devices in your home, workplace or school, outdoor power lines, underground lines and even when you travel and shop for appliances. Simply Push "ON" and push "OFF" to control the unit. The unit stays on until you push again. Couldn’t be easier.
Since EMF's are nearly everywhere it may be impossible to totally avoid them. The SAFE RANGE EMF METER from K-II can help you measure these potentially harmful fields and determine the safe range to help reduce exposure. It also helps you determine which appliances produce high level emissions.
Five bright colored LEDs will illuminate to indicate the strength of the field. Very easy to see in low light conditions. Response is instantaneous. No bouncing needle or fluctuating number digits. These features make the K-II very popular for paranormal... Ghost Meter $36 The most important tool for a ghost hunter is the EMF meter. When paranormal activity takes place, theories suggest that electromagnetic anomalies often take place in the environment. This meter allows you to detect these disturbances.
Low-cost, easy-to-use single-axis EMF meter featuring both audio and visual alarms. Features
Delivers audible and visual alerts upon detection with on/off control Detects & measures fields generated by power lines, computer monitors, TVs, Appliances, Wiring & more Detects 0-5 milli Gauss Requires one 9V battery (not included)Cell Sensor EMF Detection Meter $39.95The CellCensor EMF Detection Meter allows you to map out potential radio frequency (RF) radiation as well as extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF EMFs). Couldn't be easier to use, just turn it on and get accurate reliable readings. Perfect for situations needing high resolution measurements of AC magnetic fields without spending a lot of money. Large LCD display reads 0.1 -199.9 mG over the ELF range of 30 - 400 Hz. Provides readout in both mG and microTesla. Calibrated to within 4% ±3 digits at 50/60 Hz. This single axis meter samples every 0.4 seconds when flipped on with slide switch. Requires one 9V battery. One year limited warrantee.
Like all single axis meters, this meter must be rotated during use to find the proper orientation to the magnetic field being measured to get proper readings. Please note: this product is intended to measure electric fields, and does not detect nuclear radiationTrifield 100XE EMF Meter-Review ($150-$100 price range)Electromagnetic pollution is the biggest environmental pollutant on the planet, this is the view of some experts. EMFs (electromagnetic fields) are increasing day by day in our homes in our workplaces and in our schools. And yet mostly this growth in pollution goes unnoticed, most people are oblivious to it despite its dangers The only way you can fully appreciate the levels of electromagnetic pollution in your life is to measure it using an EMF meter.
The Trifield 100XE EMF meter is a three axis EMF meter so it can easily measure and detect electromagnetic radiation from all directions without you having to move the meter round. It can measure: Mel Meter 8704 $99-$129• Custom Dual Display Correlates EMF & Temperature Cold Spots Simultaneously! • EMF "Burst" Mode Feature for Tracking Dynamic EMF movement • Measurement Ranges: 20, 200, 2000 uTesla 200, 2000, 20,000 mGauss • Super Bright Custom "Nightview" Display with On/Off Button • Fast Response Thermocouple Temperature Sensor • Record Feature Captures Min & Max Values • Tripod mountable
Digital EVP Recorder
4GB integrated flash memory provides up to 500 hours of recording time micro SD card slot allows for extended recording time (card not included) Voice-activated recording system 4 recording-quality modes Integrated omni-directional microphone High-output speaker Time/date display 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening 3.5mm microphone jack for optional external microphones USB port for fast file transfers E.Probe 2.0 E-Field $69.95 EMFs (electro-magnetic fields) have three components: magnetic, radio, and electric waves. Regular EMF detectors only pick up magnetic and radio waves, except for the much more expensive tri-field meters. The E.Probe detects the electric fields of EMFs and free floating electrical charges. This is invaluable to the paranormal researcher! With this tool, you can detect the smallest electric fields, including the electric field around the human body and, theoretically, paranormal entities. It is also useful as a real-time response tool like the flashlight, but is much more accurate! Flashlights can be affected by temperature, humidity, worn switches, and other factors, however if you connect the E.Probe's antenna to the flashlight or any other metal object, the EP-2.0 will alert you to anything with an electric field that touches that object. A connecting cable with metal clips is included for that purpose! It can be used hand-held or set stationary like a pod type device.
Based on the success of the original E.Probe model EP-1, the new EP-2.0 has been modified based on user responses from around the world. There is an on/off switch with a red LED "on/off" indicator. The antenna has 180 degree flexibility and can be used in any position. It can switch between light only alerts or light & sound mode, which is useful for EVP sessions. The sensitivity has been set to auto calibrate at start-up for maximum sensitivity without false triggering. It is extremely sensitive when hand held and motion does not affect the probe.
The E.Probe is not affected by cell phones or two-way radios. This is not a static electricity detector. Static electricity detectors can be affected by static charges from someone waking on carpet or combing their hair several feet away and cannot pinpoint where a charge is. Static electricity does not affect the E.Probe and it only responds to direct contact. It is powered by one 9-volt battery (not included). We've used ours on several all-night investigations and haven't changed the batteries yet! We cannot guarantee you'll find ghosts with the E.Probe but with this fantastic new tool in your arsenal, you'll be much better armed for your search!
The EP-2.0 features:
- Red LED On/Off Indicator Switch
- Self Calibrated Fixed Sensitivity
- Flashing Lights when E-Field is Detected
- Beeper when E-Field is Detected
